The Wreck of the Delaware

Long, long ago there was a lady called Huria. She was in her house on a very stormy day. The wind was howling and the sea was in a frenzy. Then she loked out of her window and she saw a boat was in trouble. It was called the Delaware. She went out and told the village.
Henry Squirrell, one of the people on the ship knew everyone was in danger so he offered to tie the rope round his tummy and swim to shore. He jumped off the ship but he got smashed against the rocks, unconscious, so all the men hauled him in. The captain lay him down on one of the bunks.
One of the sailors had a good idea to throw a rope to the shore. It took many tries but Huria jumped into the water with her companions. One of them was very strong so he tied the rope around his tummy and swam to shore then tied it on a rock. All the men went arm to leg. Suddenly a wave came. It would plunge them into the water but it was an awfully long way. The men could not make it so Hemi and Huria dived in and swam t shore with the men. The captain was the last to get off but first he had to check on Henry so he did. Henry was still knocked out so the captain started climbing on the rope then suddenly the rope snapped. Huria jumped into the water and saved him.
When they got to shore they were surprised enough to see Henry Squirrell calling for help but no one wanted to go out and save him because the storm had got even worse so they were sadly watching their friend die.
The next day Huria and Hemi got watches for what they had done.
